ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh scallops, patted dry

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Sale and pepper, to taste

  • Optional garnish: chopped green onions, sesame seeds

Directions

  • Pat scallops dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.

  • Whisk coconut aminos, honey or maple syrup, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a bowl until combined.

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add scallops in a single layer (in batches if needed) and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove scallops from the skillet briefly.

  • Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour glaze into skillet, add scallops back, coat each scallop with glaze, and cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened and coated evenly. Stir gently.

  • Transfer scallops to a serving dish, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

  • Serve hot as an appetizer or main dish, perfect with rice or steamed vegetables.
